What does Application Support mean?
Application Support means services ranging from ad hoc support during workload peaks through to total application ownership. These are covered in more detail below.
Technical Support Services
We can offer first-line technical support services via email, telephone or on-site. These services allow your developers to call upon our considerable experience within the following areas:
- DOC1 installation, configuration and support
- Emtex VIP & VDE development
- Windows and UNIX scripting
- Script/VS and ASF
- AFP print streams and print error diagnosis
Application Development and Maintenance
We can take over responsibility for development and maintenance of your existing DOC1 and Emtex VDE applications. We offer two levels of support:
- Complete Application Ownership – S4 hold all source code and documentation and receive completed functional specifications and/or change requests from you, as the client. We perform the development, maintenance and unit testing on our systems located within our Leicestershire offices and supply you with the required binaries (or scripts in the case of VDE)
- Ad hoc Development Services – S4 receive the functional specifications and/or change requests from you, plus the necessary source code for each specific project. Once complete S4 hand over the finished application source code, binaries (or scripts in the case of VDE) and hand-over documentation for you to hold.

- Legacy Application Support – Many companies have development teams with a high workload. By utilising S4’s development services, you can cover the peaks in workload whilst avoiding unutilised headcount during the troughs.
- Project Support – S4 can provide short and medium term development services for your projects, with a fully documented handover to your development team at the end of the project. We have been responsible for application development and testing for some of the biggest projects within the finance and utility markets.
